They seek to bring out in the audience a negative emotional reaction based on fear. Both the Predator and Alien series presented extra-terrestrial threats to humankind and this resulted in two crossover movies titled “Alien vs. Predator”. “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” and “Scream” are iconic slasher movies with multiple sequels. “Nightmare on Elm Street” and “Friday the 13th” brought to us two iconic horror characters – Freddy Kruger and Jason Voorhees and they came face to face in the “Freddy vs. Jason” movie. Other prominent franchises are “Halloween”, “Saw” and “Jaw”.
