So where was gay marriage legalized in the first place? It could be a surprise for you, but it’s not the United States. I’ll tell you more, there are only two countries in the Americas, which did legalize it and appeared in our top 5. The first one is the country which is also in the top 5 list of the best countries to live in. It is Canada, where gay marriage was legalized in July 2005. The other one is from the South America, the country which is known for the famed revolutionary Che Guevara and legendary soccer player Diego Maradona. It’s Argentina, where the largest waterfalls are located. Gay marriage was legalized there also in July but 5 years later after Canada, with the favor of the Argentina’s president Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner.
As you might guess most of the countries from the list are located in Eastern Europe, but there is one exclusive visitor from the Africa. In South Africa, the parliament legalized gay marriages in November 2006 after reconsideration of the current laws by the Constitutional Court.
