Education is essential nowadays, but have you ever thought about what are the countries that have smarter kids than America? While literacy rates are often good indicators, they are far from enough when it comes to determining general education levels.
One of the countries that have brilliant kids is Belgium. In Belgium, the school system is not flawless, and a study revealed in 2007 that teachers actively left their jobs due to a threat of violence. Another country that has brilliant kids is Poland. Education is compulsory in the nation for nine years, after which higher education may be pursued. The system has been designed to allow 22 years of schooling. On this list, there is also one of the most developed countries in Europe, Norway. Norway ranks high in almost all the criteria that determine the success of a country, including education. Education in New Zealand is three tiered, with primary school followed by secondary and tertiary schools. What makes some kids smarter than other? What is important in their education? Some of the statistic says that high-school students in some countries rarely get more than a half-hour of homework a night. They have no school uniforms, no honor societies, no valedictorians, no tardy bells and no classes for the gifted. Children have the freedom to develop themselves as they like to. Being one of the world’s toughest meritocracies, these countries’ education system today have produced the world’s smartest kids. Apart from this, kids in these countries are made to follow strict discipline, and they enter a stream before they are ten years old. Also, some say that the relationship between fertility and intelligence has been investigated in many demographic studies, with contradicting evidence that on a population level, intelligence is negatively correlated with fertility rate, and positively correlated with a survival rate of offspring. The combined net effect of these two forces on ultimate population intelligence is not well studied and is unclear. It is theorized that if an inverse correlation of IQ with fertility rate were stronger than the correlation of survival rate, and if heritable factors involved in IQ were consistently expressed in populations with different fertility rates.
