In an article on Business Insider, it was reported that Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) co-founder, Evan Williams has said in his recent interview that Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) is essentially a news service where people can share and report news from any domain. But he also thinks that people are in need of original, opinionated content which contains value instead of news fizzles which are of no value after some time.
Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) cofounder said that modern news service is creating anxieties in the readers and viewers which can be extremely harmful He said that news services wilfully create hype and anxieties to get clicks and traffic. They bombard people will useless information, exploiting the biological and psychological need of being informed. He said that everyone wants to know what’s going on around him and what people are talking about. Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) cofounder said that news eat a large portion of people’s energy which can be easily used somewhere else more productive.
Williams is also the cofounder of Medium, a famous website which has more than 17 million visitors a month including US President Barack Obama and Elon Musk. Williams founded Medium with 75 people and now it is growing. Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) is investing heavily in the content business.
In an interview, Williams talked about his harsh remarks about the news which said that Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) users are outnumbered by Instagram. He thinks that modern tech industry on one-dimensional. It toxically focuses on breadth and not depth. Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) cofounder also praised Dick Costolo and said that he has good operations skills.
