Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) is hooked up to everything big it seems. After planning to build a massive factory, the ‘Gigafactory’, the company is now planning to put up a giant signage outside its Fremont factory. San Jose Mercury News revealed this information in one of its articles recently.
Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) is planning to put up this massive signage in between its factory in Fremont and the Interstate Highway 880. The signage would be located outside Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA)’s South Fremont compound and is expected to have a display area of 6,300 sq. feet. Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) intends to use this signage for the promotion of its upcoming vehicles.
According to Fremont Planning Commission, even though Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) proposed signage is massive, they support Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) branding itself and letting it be known to the world that Fremont is the home of Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA).
According to regulations in Fremont, one cannot put up a electronic signage with a moving image, but one can illuminate their signage to enhance its visibility. Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) plans to illuminate its sign, which is expected to be 200 by 40-feet in size. According to the article, it would be perched up on a 10-foot column and would be 30-feet high.
Though Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) is based in Palo Alto, California, Fremont being its manufacturing base is also home to maximum number of its employees. Incidentally, Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) is also Fremont’s largest employer, employing nearly 4,000 people at its factory located on a 212 acre property. Apart from being the largest employer, Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA)’s manufacturing facility is also the biggest building in Fremont.
As of June 30, 2014, Daniel Benton‘s Andor Capital Management owns 1.25 million shares in Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA), making it one of the largest shareholders in the company.
