Markets are going in the favor of mainstream retailers these days. In a program on CNBC, Telsey Group CEO, Dana Telsey, said that fashion players and retail companies are really winning the show these days and are likely to perform well in the future. Telsey thinks that Macy’s, Inc (NYSE:M) is going great and will be getting more out of the market in the coming days.
“Macy’s, Inc (NYSE:M) has a huge assortment of ‘back to school’, it’s focusing on the millennials, and they certainly also feel like they are gonna get it right this season,” said Telsey.
Talking about J.C. Penney Company, Inc (NYSE:JCP), Telsey said that it is really going up in the market and all the investors must take this option as a favorable pie for the future. J.C. Penney Company, Inc (NYSE:JCP) remains top choice for investors according to Telsey.
A report is also in media according to which, American Apparel Inc (NYSEMKT:APP) is in talks with Standard General, the New York-based hedge fund that controls 43% of the company’s stock, to secure the funding and to pay off the $10 million loan which was taken from Lion Capital and now becoming more of a liability for the company.
American Apparel Inc (NYSEMKT:APP) is also said to be changing its board, except for the two co-chairmen. According to the reports, Standard General is awaiting the results of an investigation into Charney’s behavior. The loan came due after American Apparel Inc (NYSEMKT:APP) founder and former chief executive officer got ousted.
“I think it’ll be here under what management team it’s gonna be here is a question under what ownership structure, that’s a big question,” said Telsey.
Answering to the question that whether she thinks American Apparel Inc (NYSEMKT:APP) ousted, CEO Dov Charney, should be back and running the company or not, Telsey said that company needs a structural revamp and it’s hard to say whether the old management will be able to deliver the improved results or not.
“Hard thing to say, I mean it needs to see improved results and improved results are…. can it be lead under the old management team, it probably needs a bit of a different structure than that of one in the past,” thinks Telsey.
