Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT)’s CEO Satya Nadella made it clear on his first day that he is going to maintain his focus on two aspects of the contemporary technology domains: Cloud and mobile. In an effort to beef up Microsoft mobile portfolio, company is making a plethora of acquisitions. Recently, it spent $200 million to buy Acompli, a mobile startup that makes email handling and scheduling apps. Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has already Exchange email service and Outlook under its belt. But the need of a mobile specific email client was felt since long.
Email app for Acompli has many features that are similar to Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL)’s newly launched email app for mobile which is dubbed as ‘Inbox’. Acompli email app helps you find out more important emails easily. It lets you add reminders and plan your calendar in an optimized way. Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL)’s Inbox also makes email prioritizing a lot easier.
Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT)’s biggest advantage over Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) is its deep penetration in the corporate workplaces. Microsoft will add integration of Acompli email app with Outlook and Exchange email server. For now, Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) will work on designing email and group apps for Android and iOS. Its interesting to note that Acompli has a strong user base which uses Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL)’s gmail app, iCloud and Apple mail and several other email apps. Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) currently has no plans to kill other company apps from Acompli email suite, Tech Crunch reported.
Despite of a diverse range of email apps available, tech giants like Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) and Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) are heavily investing and focusing on email apps for mobile users. Email security is the area which needs more attention apart from scheduling and prioritizing. This area, as of now, is untouched by the tech giants.
