As per a recent analysis from the Synergy Research Group, Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has recorded a tremendous growth in cloud service in the first quarter. We can say that it stands first in the race to defeat Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) and to become the world’s best cloud services provider. Though Amazon is still the world leader and has a better market share than four of its competitors combined (approximately 28%); Microsoft, even though having just below 10%, is clearly the second in the business and if it continues at this rate it can come closer to Amazon in the near future.
Most of the service providers have already released their first quarter results, the estimated quarterly revenue from cloud services amounts to around $3.5 Billion and the total revenue in the past 1 year is approximately $12 Billion, the source says. All the major players like Amazon, Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT), International Business Machines Corp (NYSE:IBM), and Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) have gained revenue owing to the 50 % growth in the cloud business every year in an average. Though Amazon is the clear leader today, with a quarterly revenue of $1 Billion, Microsoft has shown incredible growth and it truly looks the best competitor for Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN).
Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) is famous for its SaaS (Software as a Service) and its cloud related hardware products. Most of the cloud service providers use Microsoft products at some place in their infrastructure and that adds to the credibility of the Tech Giant. A prodigious marketing unit also makes Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) a strong competitor in the cloud market. John Dinsdale, research director at Synergy group was very impressed by the growth of Microsoft.
