Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) is partnering with TracFone, a telecommunication company, to provide a new mobile health management solution for high-risk and underserved population. This service would be provided through insurers and other providers. The company revealed this in a press release on its website recently.
Both Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) and TracFone, will first engage in a pilot project with Health Choice Network (HCN), in which HCN will give smartphones to patients suffering with diabetes so that they can better manage the care that they are provided. The services would be provided on Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT)’s Windows Phone and contain Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT)’s other services like Office 365 and Microsoft Dynamics CRM. Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) is also ensuring complete security and privacy by providing enterprise-grade security to these devices, enabling the patient to receive HIPAA-enabled email and messaging communications regarding their health.
“This solution brings together the strength of Microsoft’s comprehensive platform and productivity tools in an evolving mobile-first, cloud-first world,” Michael Robinson, vice president of U.S. Health and Life Sciences at Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) was quoted as saying.
As of June 30, 2013, Jeffrey Ubenn‘s ValueAct Capital owns 74,236,642 shares in Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT), making it one of the largest shareholders in the company.
