LinkedIn Corp (NYSE:LNKD) first launched their mobile version of the site in 2008. Their mobile version was not particularly as popular as Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB)’s mobile version. LinkedIn have come up with their brand new profile for mobile devices, which is supposed to be more user-friendly. Michael “Dr. Woody” Woodward, organizational psychologist, executive coach and author of ‘The YOU Plan’ talked with FBN’s Lauren Simonetti on Fox Business about the new LinkedIn mobile profile and its advantages.
Woodward thinks that LinkedIn Corp (NYSE:LNKD) has revamped their mobile profile and made it more user friendly. He feels that users can now use it easily and keep the LinkedIn profile up to date on the fly.
“[…] More and more people are doing everything online through mobile. Now, LinkedIn’s user base is really becoming more mobile,” He added.
Woodward said that LinkedIn have updated and made their already available mobile platform more user friendly, as they start seeing more users migrating towards mobile usage. He considers that having mobile LinkedIn removes the excuse of not being able to update the profile.
He said that LinkedIn can be used in a more effective way by hopping on and getting more information about the person that the user is supposed to meet. Woodward added that LinkedIn mobile platform lets him use his idle time effectively. He thinks that if the LinkedIn profile is not up to date, it is equivalent to having a closed sign on the office window. He added that this gives an impression to the world that the user might be disinterested or not progressing, which might not be actually true.
He thinks that LinkedIn is mostly used by professionals. He added that it was used by professionals and sales people who wanted to enhance their networks, but he added that it is used by almost everyone nowadays. He feels that LinkedIn platform is not just another recruiting platform.
“[…] For someone like me, who works for myself. I have made a lot of connections with potential clients. Producers here at Fox, I am LinkedIn with tons of producers there to keep watch on what I am doing. So if they are looking for a guest, they can find me on there,” He added.
Woodward thinks that more than 50% of LinkedIn users are on mobile and adds that at some point all the users might be on mobile.
