Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB)’s co-founder and Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg is again making headlines. However, it’s not about his social networking company making a sizeable acquisition or tweaking its privacy policy and platform, it’s about the young billionaire speaking another language as can be seen on a report from Bloomberg.
The Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) boss is said to have delivered a speech and conducted a question and answer session entirely in Chinese and while he made some mistakes and had more than a few pauses while speaking, many people in the country praised the CEO for speaking in the country’s language.According to Zuckerberg, he was speaking at the Tsinghua University in Beijing after he joined the Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management Advisory Board earlier this week.
“Tsinghua is an amazing center of learning and research, and it has been inspiring to be with so many talented future Chinese leaders,” he said in a statement.
Bloomberg said that the Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) CEO’s Chinese was impressive given that he only learned the language in 2010. The high-flying computer whiz is said to have learned the language in order to propose in 2012 and to get the approval of his girlfriend and now wife’s mother.
The Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) CEO also said in the question and answer session that he also liked Chinese culture which is why he decided to learn the language.
Facebook is currently banned in China but the company is working to reestablish a presence in the country.
Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB)’s shareholders includes Cliff Asness’ Aqr Capital Management which reported owning about 4.29 million shares in the company by the end of the second quarter.
