Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL)’s semi-secret facility Google X has been working on a lot of future technologies. In a recent revelation from Dow Jones, Google X is reportedly working on a new technology to develop large-scale television display. CNBC’s Jon Fortt reported on CNBC about the Google’s secret TV Project.
Fortt mentioned that according to Dow Jones, Google X’s large television display project is led by Former MIT Professor, Mary Lou Jespen. Ms. Jespen is an expert in the display industry and has co-founded three startup companies connected to the display technology.
“[…] The idea here is modular display. […] Imagine little TV’s you could hook together to make a larger seamless display, may be big enough to fill a living room wall. This project apparently secret within Google,” Fortt mentioned.
Fortt added that Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) has revealed almost all of their secret projects under Google X, which includes driverless cars, drones and contact lenses that could measure blood sugar. But he mentioned that they have not revealed anything about the project on display technology.
Fortt feels that there might be numerous reasons behind that secrecy maintained in display technology project. He added that Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has been working on larger display technology for quite some time. He pointed out that Samsung Electronics is the largest manufacturer of display technology, which has a kind of uneasy alliance with Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL).
Fortt mentioned that Samsung electronics has made more money than Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) through Android. He added that Google is currently researching in a sector where Samsung has made huge inroads. Samsung Electronics has come up with a lot of new innovations in the display technology.
As of 30 June, 2014, David Tepper’s Appaloosa Management Lp hold around 600,000 Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) shares.
