eBay Inc(NASDAQ:EBAY)’s PayPal unit has launched a fingerprint authentication service on the new Samsung Galaxy S5 device.
The service allows users to log in with their fingerprint to shop at merchants that accept PayPal on mobile web sites, mobile apps and in stores. It’s available in 25 global markets. Additionally, Samsung Galaxy S5 users who use the PayPal app will receive $50or more in offers at several merchants that accept PayPal, it said.
The app is also available on the Samsung Gear 2 and Gear Fit. Ebay shares are slightly lower mid-afternoon Friday at $53.88 in a 52-week range of $48.06 – $59.70.
