DISH Network Corp (NASDAQ:DISH) has voiced its opposition to the planned merger between Comcast Corporation (NASDAQ:CMCSA) and Time Warner Cable Inc (NYSE:TWC), Jon Erlichman discussed in a recent segment aired on Bloomberg Television.
According to the Bloomberg anchor, DISH Network Corp (NASDAQ:DISH) is asking the United States Federal Communications Commission to stop the deal between Comcast Corporation (NASDAQ:CMCSA) and Time Warner Cable Inc (NYSE:TWC) from happening. He reported:
“They are and I think that’s absolutely well within their right to do. We are in the process of observing, Washington is at the very least, two massive transactions: Comcast’s purchase of Time Warner Cable [and] AT&T’s purchase of DirecTV. All the other players who are observing those deals, whether they are in the pay TV world like DISH, or the broadcasters like the Disneys and Foxes of the world, have to be thinking about what that means for them.”
According to Erlichman, players in the field have to choices: they either go very public with their side or stay quiet and not ruffle any feathers. The host added that DISH Network Corp (NASDAQ:DISH), even before these consolidations through mergers and acquisitions have come forth, had people wondering about its future. Given the massive transactions like the Comcast Corporation (NASDAQ:CMCSA) and Time Warner Cable Inc (NYSE:TWC) deal, the company has been sort of left out in the cold, he commented.
