BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY)’s Z30 smartphone was named the consumer product of the year by the Best in Biz 2014 Awards International committee, comprised of analysts and members of the business, finance, and technology media. The Z30 won the gold award, while MicroStrategy Incorporated (NASDAQ:MSTR)’s MicroStrategy Analytics Desktop took home silver.
It’s yet another prestigious award for the Z30, which also took home a Red Dot Product Design Award last month. BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) in fact took home three of those awards during that evening, for their Z30, Q5, and Q10 smartphones.
Judging for the Best in Biz awards was conducted by 27 judges with esteemed positions in the news, finance, and technology industries, representing 17 different countries. Among the media outlets represented were Gizmodo, Lifehacker, Huffington Post, PC Authority, and Xbox Plus.
“The BlackBerry Z30 is an outstanding device for users who demand to stay hyper connected, productive and always in control. Being honored with a gold Best in Biz Award is a testament to our strategy to develop and deliver innovative technologies that empower professionals,” said Ron Louks, President of Devices and Emerging Solutions for BlackBerry in a press release.
With its massive 2880 mAH non–removable battery that promises up to 25 hours of mixed usage between charges, and its powerful suite of productivity and communication features, the BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY)’s Z30 smartphone has been one of the company’s most well-received since the halcyon days of the mid-2000’s, when BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) was the dominant force in the mobile industry.
While the company has fallen on hard times in the years since, there appears to be a positive shift in momentum among analysts and the media, which has partly contributed to BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY)’s stock rising 27% year-to-date. This award appears to be yet another step in that direction for the Canadian company.
