Qualcomm’s royalty business remains healthy and defensible, RBC Capital analyst Mark Sue wrote in a note to investors earlier today. Additionally, QUALCOMM, Inc. (NASDAQ:QCOM) should benefit from the expansion of LTE networks and it returns 75% of its free cash flow to shareholders, Sue stated. The analyst was also upbeat on Ericsson, as he expects the company’s revenue to steadily grow by about…

Ahead of the US March jobs report at 8:30AM ET, the street is currently modeling up 200,000 (versus 175,000 in February) although the whisper numbers are notably higher now than earlier in the week. Traders suspect that additions for the month of March could reach 215-220,000 (with the most bullish forecasting 225,000-240,000, although this is probably a bit of a stretch). It is no secret that the narrative has become incrementally more sanguine. This is a result of more positive economic data this week (auto, ADP, and ISM) coupled with expectations for a rebound from January and February, which were…
After the markets closed on Wednesday, March 26, Paychex (NASDAQ:PAYX) reported better-than-expected fiscal third-quarter results. Revenue growth was better than expected, and EPS were $0.02 above the consensus estimate. Management maintained its revenue guidance for 2014, but slightly increased its net income guidance (up 9%-10%, compared with previous guidance of 8%-9% growth). Paychex’s payroll services growth of 5% inched up slightly from last quarter, and set a new high for what we have seen post-recession. We would caution that a portion of the improved growth is attributable to an easy comparison (one more billing day than last year)—the two-year compounded…
On Thursday, March 27, the House of Representatives passed a proposal to delay the 24% cut to physician reimbursement for 12 months. The bill, H.R. 4302, also included several provisions that affect end-stage renal disease (ESRD) reimbursement. There were two material proposed changes to the ESRD program. First, the bill delays the inclusion of orals into the bundle until 2024. This was rumored for some time and is not a surprise. Second, the bill changes the application of the re-base, restricting the re-base to 2014 and 2015. The final rule that was issued in late 2013 proposed phasing in the…
