Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has faced intense criticism on pushing aside its Maps applications and iTunes Radio in the past. There hasn’t been any updates to Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s Maps application for some time and iTunes radio was also apparently not doing well. But more recent numbers are proving that Apple Maps and iTunes radio are increasingly becoming popular in the U.S. A new study from ComScore has depicted that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s Maps application and iTunes Radio are flourishing despite an increasing critique, as Yahoo! Finance stated in an article.  During the second quarter, 42 million people used Apple’s Maps as compared to 64 million Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL)’s Google Maps users. iTunes Radio, which is similar to Pandora Media Inc (NYSE:P)’s app, the music streaming service in many ways got 41 million users compared to Pandora’s 69 million. The users are from both iPhone and Android phones.

ComScore’s study showed the popularity of iPhones over Android phones in the US as well. According to the study, 44.5%, or 67.4 million people are using iPhones. The interesting part mentioned in the study shows that iPhones are mostly used by wealthier people, having annual income of $85,000 on average, compared to $61,000 for Android users.

The study also showed that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s Messenger app is nowhere to be found in the famous messaging apps list. The study listed top 25 messaging apps used by population in the US and Apple’s messenger was not in the list. The app usage in the country has been decreased dramatically according to the study. In addition, the study found that Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB)’s app is the most used, having 115 million unique users.

Billionaire investor Carl Icahn is one of the top shareholders of Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL), having 52.76 million shares of the company.
