Unhinged by the thunderstorms forecast for Saturday, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)‘s devoted fans stay put in the line just outside company’s flagship Fifth Avenue store in New York City, according to re/code‘s Dawn Chmielewski. The fans are undeterred by the uncertainty surrounding the unveiled Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) devices which are due to be released on 9th September. From the looks of it the fans just want their toy as soon as possible.
It’s a diverse crowd lined up outside the store. Ranging from couples like Moon and Jason Ray, Moon being a model and actress from Austin, to couples like Brian Ceballo and Jason Cruz who were set to camp outside the store for more than 15 days to break their past record in ‘delayed gratification’. It’s the fifth year that Ceballo and Cruz are doing this. Moreover, Ceballo and Cruz also have an official sponsor and their T-shirts have its name written across them, BuyBackWorld, an electronics reseller.
They story takes a turn as Chmielewski added that the Rays paid the couple $1,250 each to take the first spots in the line. However, do not be beguiled into thinking that this is an outrageous act of a diehard Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) fan. The couple has the support of the creators of Video Machine, a telemedicine application being released on September 8, to back their expenses. They have been enthusiastically talking to journalists who come to interview them about the application.
However, aside from the so-called Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) fans with their own ulterior motives, there are also genuine devotees who have been waiting in the line for days. A couple from Mississippi who made their first trip to New York for the sole purpose of acquiring their new iPhone 6 is one of them.
In the end it doesn’t matter whether people standing in the line are genuine Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) enthusiasts or not. What matters is the popularity and strength of Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) as a brand that has transpired into a debacle such as this one.
