Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has launched what was being said as the next game changing device from the company, the Apple Watch. In the live blog on its website the company described the features of the watch. In terms of design, the watch is square and has traditional looks. It comes with multiple interchangeable bands. The body of the watch is stainless steel and the display is sapphire coated.
There are multiple sensors on the rear end of the Watch and according to Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) it is accurate to +/- 50 milliseconds. The Apple Watch connects seamlessly with the iPhone and works as an amazing health and fitness companion. Instead of copying the user interface from the iPhone, the Apple Watch comes with its own UI, which can be managed by the ‘digital crown’ on the right side of the device. One can zoom in and zoom out of maps just by rotating the crown, the scroll function is also handled by the crown. Regardless of which app one is using, it just takes a press on the crown to return back to the home screen.
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s Watch has messaging features and also has the digital assistant Siri. By clicking on the button right below the crown will instantly show the friends whom you can contact. The screen of the Apple Watch has a flexible retina display, the device senses touch and force separately. Apple Watch runs on a custom made S1 processor. It has a zirconia back which includes four sapphire lenses. The infrared and visible light LEDs with photo sensors detect pulse rate of the user wearing the watch. The crystals on the back of the watch enable it to get charged through induction, without any physical contact. Apart from the bands, the face of the Apple Watch can also be personalized. The only con of the Apple Watch seems to be that it can’t be used without an iPhone. Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has partnered with different brands like Nike, BMW, Honeywell to provide unique apps for the Apple Watch. The Apple watch has been priced at $349.
As of June 30, 2014, Carl Icahn’s Icahn Capital LP owns over 52 million shares in Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL).
