At the Farnborough Air Show, Bloomberg anchor Anna Edwards speaks to John Harris, the chief executive officer of Raytheon International Inc. (Raytheon Company (NYSE:RTN)), as  part of the Bloomberg’s ‘The Pulse.’ The discussion mainly revolved around the demand for defense equipment as well as the ongoing geopolitical situation which would play a major role in shaping the future of the industry.

On the U.S. Government’s Defense Budget being under pressure and the need to find more international customers, Harris said that Raytheon Company (NYSE:RTN) is not immune to it and that the company is, therefore, required to position it accordingly as well as have the ability to make necessary investments in technologies that meet the needs of the customers.

He added that the company has always been present in the international market and that it has seen 27% of its sales coming from international markets in the past year and that they intend to grow it further going ahead. Moreover, he sees demand in all sectors

On cyber security and the kind of growth available, Harris said: “So international figures very prominently in our future. With respect to cyber, we have been doing our work initially domestically; we have a number of customers internationally; we intend to grow that.”

Speaking on the geopolitical situation between the West and Russia and its effect on U.S. companies involved in the defense business like Raytheon Company (NYSE:RTN), Harris said “Our job is to be there for our partners. We have been there in the past; we intend to be there today and in the future. Our sense says that our needs or once capabilities are there for the customers, and we intend to be that trusted resource.”

“This is a fantastic opportunity for us to engage with our customers, to spend time with existing customers and figure out what their key care-abouts and needs are, make sure we bring that right solution and also a fantastic opportunity to meet with new customers. We think is a fantastic venue and an opportunity for us to grow our business,” Harris added.
