So what are the most poplar music streaming services in 2017? According to a music research agency, the MIDiA Research, in 2016 more than 100 million people paid for subscriptions on various music streaming services throughout the whole world. This is a very interesting and important milestone, because it shows how many people are willing to pay for a service and ho much has been invested in it. As I am not an expert of this issue, I will give you the figures as they were in the article.

These large numbers of consumers mean the prospects of this industry in the future. The revenue of streaming music has grown by 49% in 2016, and it reached $5.4 billion. Subscriptions and listenership can figure the most popular music streaming services in 2017, such as: Amazon Music Unlimited and Amazon Prime Music from Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN), Apple Music from Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL), Deezer, iHeartRadio from iHeartMedia Inc (OTCMKTS:IHRT), Napster, Pandora Media Inc (NYSE:P), Spotify, Tidal, and YouTube from Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL), are all as of late-2016 or early-2017.

We have picked three items from Insider Monkey’s list: Tidal, Amazon Music Unlimited from Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN); an Napster (formerly Rhapsody). Last March Tidal reported having 3 million paying subscribers, but it is a mainly artist-owned streaming service, and it was accused of inflating subscription numbers. In December, 2016, this platform had about one million subscribers, according to MIDiA research. Amazon Music Unlimited from Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) didn’t report exact numbers nowadays, it is estimated that 13% of 14 million Amazon Echo users use it, reported MusicWaatch. It means 1.8 million users since Echo was launched in October, 2016. Napster changed its name from Rhapsody in June 2016, Napster is back in the music business as a less dubious enterprise. The music streaming platform has 4.5 million paying customers as of December 2016, according to MIDiA research.
