This modern tech era belongs to the ecosystem. That is where Apple wins and this is where Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) and Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) are trying hard to build their product strategy. Microsoft is currently opting a strategy for software for all. It is developing apps for Android, iOS and Blackberry. It wants to take as much space as possible on other company’s platforms in order to generate revenue. But it seems the company is still not clear about its goals in the future. To take the ecosystem road or stick to the open, friends of all approach is the current dilemma of Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT).
Recently, Chris Capossela, Executive in Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) showed some interesting piece of data. The graph shows the product connectivity output of Apple, Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) and Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT). The result shows that users are more inclined to use the products of the same company. So for example, if you are using a Google Android device, you are mostly likely to use Google Chrome as your browser, Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) services, Google Keep. If you have a Windows device, you will use IE, Office or Skype.
Interestingly, Capossela accepted that Microsoft is losing the connectivity of products battle. He thinks that Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) is behind Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) and Apple in this ecosystem approach.
Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT)’s executive said that the company recorded around 70 million office downloads annually, but after the launch of Office for Android and iOS, around 40 million new downloads were added to the numbers. Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) will increase its product connectivity in the future.
