Recently, Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR)’s social media platform users have started to experience strange activity in their streams. Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR)’s site users now see random tweets and activities from people they don’t know or follow on Twitter. Twitter has acknowledged this change and said that it will keep doing it to increase the interaction and activity on its social platform. In an article on re/code, Kurt Wagner explains how and why Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) is applying this changes. Wagner stated that when any activity from the unknown account appears in the stream, there is a seamless label above it, showing the name of the person who follows, favorites or interacts with this account. Many users will think that Twitter is following the format of Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB), which shows Friends’ activity in the stream, but Wagner thinks this is not the case here.

Referring to some sources who are familiar with the latest Twitter’s algorithm revamp, Wagner claims that Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR)’s social media site has a new algorithm that searches for the social graph of each user marked by actions like favorites and retweets. Twitter shows any activity or favorite on your account because a lot of members of your social circle on Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR)’s platform are showing interest in that specific account or Tweet which appears out of the blue in your stream.

Many users are not happy with this change in Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR)’s site because their name can appear anywhere in the stream, even if they don’t endorse it. Wagner said that Twitter is working on finding an alternative to this algorithm. Wagner thinks that Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) will have to make an effort to take its users on board on this new algorithm change and explain them how the new stream works in order to make it acceptable.
