Last year, Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) announced Microsoft Ventures, a project through which the company mentors, guides, offersfund to build/grow the startups, which look challenging. Earlier in June, at the first Microsoft Ventures Global Startup day in San Francisco, they announced the partnership with American Family Insurance for an accelerator, which focuses primarily on home automation.
Recently, Steven Guggenheimer, Corporate VP and Chief Evangelist, Microsoft Developer Experience and Evangelism, shared the names of 10 startups for the Accelerator on Home Automation in a blog post. Guggenheimer said that the Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT)’s Ventures Accelerator on home automation will be hosted on their campus in the fall.
He pointed out that the Internet of Things is the hottest topic and Home Automation, in particular, is gaining a lot of attraction. He said that there is room for a lot of new players in the market, considering the growth in demand for innovative and affordable solutions.
“Over the past two months, we met with companies across the country and dug through more than 400 applications – all to find the most promising startups, tackling the most challenging problems in home automation. […] It is an amazing and diverse group,” Guggenheimer wrote in the blog.
Guggenheimer assured that all the selected startups will receive mentorship and guidance needed to accelerate the growth of their business from Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT). He pointed at the unique understanding of the American Family Insurance on how the smart technology advancements might protect their policy holders proactively. He believed that the home automation would revolutionize the way the homes are managed and make them more efficient.
He added that he is excited about the developments that might happen in the next few months and welcomed all the selected startups to their campus. The selected startups for the accelerator are, Chai Energy, Heatworks, Neura, Novi security, Playtabase, Plum, Red balloon security, Scanalytics, Sentri, and Wallflowr.
