Even though Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) has been involved in various scandals in the recent time, related to users’ privacy, the company does not intend to stop apparently. As Bloomberg‘s Trisha Regan pointed out today on ‘The Roundup’, Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB)intends to start tracking the users among their devices. The data the company will gather, will later be sent to advertisers, who will be able to see, on which device a user has seen a particular ad, and from where he/she purchased the product. However, this tracking might still raise some issues related to users’ privacy.
“[…] I don’t like the idea of them tracking everything I do. But at the same time, it’s kind of nice to get an add that you might actually want to click on,” said Regan.
However, as Eric Chemi of Bloomberg pointed out, media companies have been tracking the activity of their viewers for a long time trying to find the best target audiences for promotions of various types of products. In this way, what Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) is doing is that they basically took the same thing but to a more advanced level.
Nevertheless, even though Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) is involved in different privacy-related problems, people still like the social media website and keep using it, even though there is a lot of buzz arising right after the announcement of some ‘innovational’ method that will allow Facebook to provide a better platform for advertisers.
