Ming-Chi Kuo, Analyst at KGI Securities is an authority when it comes to Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s product launches and production, so when he says something it’s most likely to be true. Macrumours, a website dedicated to Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s devices, published an article today on why Mr. Kuo believes that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s rumored iWatch will be available in limited quantities when it launches in 2014.
According to Mr. Kuo even though market believes that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) will ship between 5 and 10 million watches in 2014, his own analysis based on supply chain checks leads him to conclude that it would be at 3 million units due to Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) delaying the iWatch’s production date.
The reduction in shipment and delay are being attributed to the difficulties in developing the screen for the device as well as its sapphire crystal cover. Mr. Kuo also believes that the difficulties with the sapphire display may lead Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) to produce some of the devices with glass cover instead of sapphire.
