Social networking has gained immense popularity all over the world in recent years, especially since the introduction of Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB)’s website. The website boasts more than 1.3 billion active users, with more than 829 million visiting the social network on a daily basis. Considering the significance of these numbers and the huge leap forward they represent in terms of global connectivity, some might wonder who makes up the list of the top 10 countries with the most Facebook users.
With almost 25 million users, Germany comes in tenth place on our list. Due to the huge increase in the popularity of the social networking website, now one out of three individuals living in Germany have a Facebook account. France is one step above Germany in absolute numbers with 25.3 million users, and it seems Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) is even more popular here, as more than 37% of the population is registered.
With more than 30.2 million users and growing on a daily basis, the Philippines ranks eighth on our list of the top 10 countries with the most Facebook users. The Philippines are closely followed by the United Kingdom, which has around half of its population, or 31.1 million people, using Facebook. Turkey comes in sixth place on our list, with more than 32.7 million active users, mainly comprised of adults between the ages of 18 to 35.
Far ahead of the countries mentioned before and coming in fifth place is Mexico, with 42.5 million users. Despite the fact that in Indonesia only one out of five people have a Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) account, the total number of users ascends to a whopping 47.9 million, making this the fourth highest ranking country on our list.
As the second most populated country in the world, it comes as little surprise that India ranks third amongst the top 10 countries with the most Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB)’s platform users. With a total of 63.7 million users registered, there is still ample room for expansion, considering India boasts a total population of over 1 billion.
With almost 72 million users, Brazil comes in second place, although it is not expected to stay there for long, since it has already achieved a penetration rate above the 36% mark, with India closing in. Finally, it should come as no surprise that the U.S. is ranked first on the list of the top 10 countries with the most Facebook users. Around 159 million people have active accounts on Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB)’s platform in the birthplace of the most popular social networking website in the world.
