Europe is by far the richest continent of the world. It is home to some of the world richest economies and developed countries. Economists have a variety of tools at their disposal to find out how rich a country is, but perhaps the most commonly used tool of them all is GDP or gross domestic product. It is the measure of the total output of a country within its borders. The higher the number is, the richer the country is considered. It includes everything that is produced insider the country’s borders, and then assigned a monetary value to it in order to calculate the total GDP. The calculation is indeed rather huge, but thankfully in order to know a country’s GDP we do not need to crunch the numbers ourselves, there are agencies out there who do it for us and then make the information public so that anyone with an interest can access these data easily and from anywhere. That being said, only the GDP does not convey the entire picture of a country’s economy, there are other factors as well, such as debt, unemployment rate, and many other factors as well.
